Landfill Lining & Capping
Landfill Lining & Capping
Landfill operators are required to ensure their sites are efficiently managed to protect the surrounding environment from the potential hazards that are associated with their industry.
The management of landfill gasses generated by waste is essential to them meeting the strict guidelines laid out by the Environment Agency. Rainwater infiltration into completed cells also has to be controlled to ensure local groundwater remains protected and safe from contamination.
IGMM Jones manufacture and install
Before any installation begins, we follow strict quality control procedures to ensure the values of the lining are able to meet the full performance levels required by the landfill. All tests of our geomembrane liners are carried out by an independent, UKAS accredited laboratory.
WHY YOU NEED HDPE LINERS FOR LANDFILL LINING & CAPPING
The installation of HDPE liners
Without the capping in place, rainwater can infiltrate the landfill to create leachate. If this seeps outside of the landfill into the surrounding territory it can contaminate both the land and nearby ground water, creating larger ecological concerns that are damaging to the environment, livestock and will prove costly to resolve.
HOW WE INSTALL HDPE LINERS FOR LANDFILL LINING & CAPPING
Our streamlined process ensures we can arrange the installation of your materials in a short space of time by following these steps:
- The sub-grade is compacted to ensure the surfaces are free of soft spots and voids.
- If a secondary HDPE liner is required, this is also laid and welded into position.
- With the formation of each seam, our team air-pressure test the liner.
- We then install a non-woven overlay above the geomembrane to add further protection before backfilling.
BENEFITS OF ADDING HDPE LINERS FOR LANFDILL LINING & CAPPING
- High levels of chemical and water resistance
- The material is durable enough to withstand waste that may tear or puncture
- Strong protection against ultra violet rays to extend the life of the liner
- Flexible enough to withstand required tolerances for years.
- Environmentally friendly to lower carbon footprint
